As summer draws to a close (booo!), and Autumn approaches, with its accompanying long nights, there’s little to look forward to before Christmas – except, that is – Halloween (yay!)
(By the way, someone needs to make November the 1st a Bank Holiday…)
And you know what Halloween means… Vampires; and ghouls; and wizards; and witches – and – wishes.
Wishes and Witches, And Vampires
By vampires, we, of course, mean Baron Von Grindle!
Yes, he’s back to scare the ever living daylights out of us, and we just can’t wait.
One of the Baron Von Grindle’s appearances is at the charity event of the year, Wishes and Witches, on the 14th October, which is where children get to dress up in their favourite costumes, and eat their favourite treats, all while supporting a good cause.
It’s a fun-filled event, but came about through a great sadness.
Wishes and Witches is an event created by the Lyla Nsouli Foundation For Children’s Brain Cancer Research, which was set up after Lyla was diagnosed on August 13, 2011, at the age of 2 years and 8 months with an inoperable, incurable form of brain cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).
Its first objective is to target the worst form of brain cancer – DIPG.
After what happened to their daughter, Lyla’s parents are compelled to do all they can to try and prevent this disease from destroying children’s lives (and their families) so violently, and to try and improve the prognosis for these children, and eventually find a cure.
